What You Should Do After a Rideshare Accident:
- Call 911. If you, the driver, or anyone involved in the accident is physically harmed or in danger, please call 911.
- Report the Accident to Uber/Lyft. If you are a passenger or driver, report the accident to the rideshare app you used. If asked to provide a statement tell them that you will provide one at a later time.
- Obtain Documentation. Whether you were a passenger in the rideshare or your vehicle was involved in an accident with a rideshare vehicle, the same rules apply.
Personal Information
- Obtain a copy/photo of the driver’s photo ID or
- Write down their first and last name, address, and phone number of all parties involved. Including any witnesses that may have seen the accident. Confirm that the information provided to you is the same as the information on their driver’s license.
Insurance
- Obtain each parties insurance information
- Please wait to provide any statements to insurance companies as they may be used against you when you file a claim.
Take photographs of:
- Damage done to the vehicles or other property and any physical injuries caused from the accident
- Vehicle license plate numbers
- Road and weather conditions
- Any other relevant photos
- Your injuries, i.e., bruising, cuts, etc.
Medical Documents
- Keep any medical documents provided if the care you received pertains to injuries caused by the accident
